At Social Care Skills, we’re delighted to launch our July 2026 training programme, bringing together a range of practical, engaging, and professionally relevant seminars designed to support those working across children’s social care and, where appropriate, adult social care.
This month sees the introduction of several brand-new courses alongside an updated version of one of our most popular sessions. Developed in response to feedback from managers, practitioners, providers, and commissioners, the programme focuses on the real challenges facing the sector today: safeguarding, workforce wellbeing, communication, placement stability, trauma-informed practice, compliance, and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.

What’s New This July?
One of the highlights of this month’s programme is the introduction of four completely new seminars.
Preventing Burnout and Building Resilient Teams (9 July) explores how professionals and organisations can strengthen wellbeing, prevent burnout, and create healthier workplace cultures. With workforce retention and staff wellbeing remaining key challenges across the sector, this timely session provides practical strategies for both individuals and leaders.
Managing Difficult Conversations with Children and Young People (16 July) focuses on one of the most important skills in social care practice. Participants will learn how to navigate sensitive discussions, build trust, and maintain positive relationships even when addressing difficult topics.
Purposeful Key Working: Planning for Progress, Not Just Paperwork (21 July) challenges practitioners to rethink how key working is delivered, moving beyond recording requirements to create meaningful interventions that support growth, resilience, and positive change.
Finally, Supporting Foster Placements: Building Stability and Positive Outcomes (23 July) has been developed specifically for fostering professionals and explores practical approaches to strengthening placements, supporting foster carers, and improving outcomes for children and young people.
Updated Courses
Alongside these new additions, we’ve refreshed one of our most popular seminars.
Trauma-Informed Practice: Understanding Behaviour Through a Relational Lens (2 July) has been updated to reflect current thinking around trauma, relationships, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes. The session continues to support professionals in understanding the experiences behind behaviour while developing practical, relationship-based approaches that can be applied across a range of settings.
Continuing Some of Our Most Requested Courses
July also includes several established Social Care Skills seminars that continue to be highly valued by managers and practitioners across the sector.
Effective Report Writing and Case Recording in Social Care (7 July) supports professionals to produce clear, objective, and defensible records that strengthen safeguarding, care planning, and professional decision-making.
Matching Assessments for Safe and Suitable Placements (14 July) remains one of our most requested courses, helping professionals make safer and more effective placement decisions through structured and evidence-based matching processes.
Children’s Homes Regulations (28 July) continues to support managers and practitioners in understanding the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards and translating them into effective day-to-day practice.
Investing in Practice That Makes a Difference
Children’s social care continues to evolve, with increasing expectations around safeguarding, leadership, workforce development, regulation, and evidence-informed practice. We believe that high-quality training should not simply deliver information but should support professionals to reflect on practice, strengthen confidence, and improve outcomes for children and young people.
Our July programme has been designed with this in mind, offering practical, engaging, and professionally relevant learning opportunities for practitioners, managers, and leaders alike.
All sessions are delivered live online via Microsoft Teams and include a certificate of attendance.
