Exclusive SALP Development Session | Subscribers Only
Overview
Being inspection-ready in Supported Accommodation is about more than having the correct policies, procedures and documentation. It requires effective leadership, consistent management oversight and the ability to demonstrate how the support provided contributes to young people’s safety, independence, development and positive outcomes.
Following our Supported Accommodation Regulations & Inspection Readiness training, this exclusive SALP Development Session provides an opportunity for subscribers to reflect on their learning, discuss practical challenges and consider how regulatory expectations are being translated into everyday practice.
Rather than delivering another formal training seminar, this session will focus on interactive discussion, shared experiences, professional reflection and practical problem-solving.
Participants will be encouraged to explore their own experiences of managing Supported Accommodation services, identify areas of confidence and uncertainty, and consider how to strengthen ongoing inspection readiness.
Discussion Themes
The session will explore key aspects of inspection readiness within Supported Accommodation, including:
- Demonstrating how the four Quality Standards are embedded in everyday practice.
- Evidencing young people’s progression, independence, development and outcomes.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of individual support planning and key-working activities.
- Maintaining effective management oversight across different premises.
- Ensuring that safeguarding arrangements are understood and consistently implemented.
- Supporting staff to understand regulatory expectations and explain their practice confidently.
- Identifying gaps between policies, records and actual service delivery.
- Using quality assurance findings, feedback and monitoring information to drive improvement.
Participants will also have opportunities to raise questions arising from the previous training and discuss challenges relevant to their own services.
Interactive Leadership Discussion
A central question will guide the session:
“If Ofsted inspected your Supported Accommodation service tomorrow, how confidently could you demonstrate the difference your support is making to young people’s lives?”
Participants will be invited to reflect on the evidence available within their services, how they evaluate the quality of support and whether their management systems provide a clear understanding of young people’s experiences and progress.
Practical scenarios and peer discussion will encourage participants to explore different approaches to addressing gaps, strengthening oversight and improving practice.
What Participants Will Take Away
By the end of the session, participants should have:
- Greater confidence in evaluating their service’s inspection readiness.
- A clearer understanding of how to evidence meaningful progression and outcomes.
- Practical ideas for strengthening management oversight and quality assurance.
- Increased awareness of potential gaps in practice and supporting evidence.
- Identified priorities for improving inspection readiness within their own services.
