[Free Event] Introduction to the Supported Learning Independence Programme

30 June @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Supporting young people to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed for adulthood is one of the most important aspects of working within supported accommodation. However, providers often face challenges in delivering independence-focused learning in a way that is structured, engaging, consistent and easy to evidence.

To support this work, we have developed the Supported Learning Independence Programme [see more information here], a comprehensive learning framework designed specifically for young people aged 16+ living in supported accommodation settings.

On 30th June at 10:00am, we will be hosting a live online session for Programme Leads from providers who have already enrolled in the programme. We are also opening the session to other providers who would like to learn more about the programme and see how it can be implemented within their services.

This session offers a unique opportunity to explore the programme in practice rather than through a traditional sales presentation. Attendees will gain an understanding of the programme structure, learning materials, implementation process, and the support available to organisations adopting the programme.

The Supported Learning Independence Programme has been designed to help providers deliver purposeful, evidence-based work with young people while supporting preparation for adulthood and increasing independence. The programme covers a range of themes relevant to everyday life, including independent living skills, health and wellbeing, education and employment, relationships, financial management, community participation, and personal development.

During the session, we will explore:

  • The philosophy and aims of the Supported Learning Independence Programme
  • The structure of the programme and learning materials
  • The role of the Programme Lead and supporting staff
  • Recording learning and evidencing outcomes
  • Monitoring progress and supporting young people’s development
  • Practical implementation within supported accommodation services
  • Questions and discussion with attendees

Whether you are already delivering independence-focused work, looking to strengthen your current approach, or exploring new ways of evidencing progress and outcomes, this session will provide valuable insight into how a structured learning framework can support both young people and staff.
