We are pleased to announce that Social Care Skills now offers two essential qualification pathways for the residential childcare sector: the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

These qualifications are awarded through Innovate Awarding Body and fully recognised by Ofsted as the required training routes for staff and managers working in children’s homes. Through our partnership with Taylor Care Training, we are able to offer flexible enrolment, assessor support, and a modern, work-based model that fits the reality of residential care.

Learners can start at any time, without waiting for scheduled cohorts. The typical time to complete the Level 3 is around 9–12 months, while the Level 5 is usually achieved within 9–18 months, depending on the learner’s pace. Both diplomas include flexible assessment options, including written assignments or voice-recorded submissions, and access to an online learning platform that managers can use for progress tracking and supervisions.

These qualifications strengthen workforce confidence, support inspection readiness, and provide a clear professional development pathway for both new and experienced staff. They complement our wider training offer and allow providers to integrate mandatory qualifications with ongoing CPD and leadership development.
